Programma

Tijdens deze tweedaagse ontdek je de analoge technieken van boekdruk en letterzetten zoals ze gebruikt werden voor de intrede van fotografisch en digitaal drukken. Je maakt kennis met de technieken en de materialen die bij letterzetten horen. Je zet een korte tekst met loden letters uit een zetkast en je maakt er een drukvorm mee, met de tekst en witmateriaal. De drukvorm drukken we daarna af op een van de persen van het atelier. Je gaat naar huis met een aantal exemplaren van je eigen tekst en die van de andere deelnemers.

Programme

During this two-day programme, you will discover the analogue techniques of letterpress and typesetting as they were used before the advent of photographic and digital printing. You will be introduced to the techniques and materials involved in typesetting. You will set a short text with lead type from a typesetting case and set a printing forme. We will then print the forme on one of the studio’s presses. You will go home with several copies of your own text and those of the other participants.
